I currently write about things that happen in Boston for USA Today.
Before this …
I learned the first seeds of journalism at Boston University's The Daily Free Press, and then spent six months as a full-time metro correspondent on the Boston Globe's city desk. After that, I hopped over to Australia for five months and wrote features for The Inner West Courier in Sydney.
Then I moved to Washington, D.C. and spent the summer writing about technology, stocks, and healthcare for USA Today.
In between Boston, Australia, and Washington D.C., there were a few summers teaching street kids English in Mumbai and Africa, and then a field reporting stint in dozens of remote Indian villages. There were many uncomfortable sleeping arrangements, but a lot of yummy street food.
Journalism has led me to burlesque shows, student protests, district and federal court cases, vigils, a barber shop (that was also a cocktail bar), a yo-yo street performance, and The White House. I've written about fires, shootings, car chases, lots and lots of turtles, Ebola scares, stocks, Indian Dance team tryouts, graffiti artists, this really cute puppy in a police vest, and a lot of wonderful and selfless people.
Hopefully some of the things and people I write about in the future will require a plane ticket to get to.
